The Technical Bit: Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the fluids in the eyes and joints. It acts as a cushion and lubricant in the joints and other tissues. Cohesion of keratinocytes is mainly arranged by special intercellular protein complexes such as desmosomes, Adherens Junctions (AJs), and Tight Junctions (TJs). Hyaluronic Acid improves the protein expression of tight junction proteins & adherens junction proteins in a dose dependant manner improves the balance of ion homeostasis, protects the viable layers of the skin, contributes to a healthier, younger, tender looking skin.
Hyaluronic Acid vs Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid: We use Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, not just Hyaluronic acid. This makes a big difference. The molecular size is smaller, and enables a better penetration. The Hydrolyzed ingredient is significantly more expensive than the non Hydrolyzed. When manufacturers claim percentage inclusion, the higher is not automatically the better. Skin has a saturation point that no longer accepts absorption, and the ingredient sits on top of the skin, possibly leaving a film that can clump, and rub off.
Our inclusion level is five times the standard level. Basically we utilize the maximum recommended effective dosage. Our 0.5% of Hydrolyzed is far more effective than 0.5% of non hydrolyzed.
